Enclosed Car Hauler Rental in Sarasota: Moving a Classic, Show, or Race Car Without a Scratch
An open car dolly gets your car from A to B. An enclosed car hauler gets it there clean, dry, locked, and out of sight, which is the whole point when the car is a restored classic, a show car headed to a weekend event, a race car going to the track, or a bike you just bought three counties away. That is what Capital Haul rents: enclosed trailers built and equipped for moving cars, and they work just as well for a household move when you want everything under a roof.
Our enclosed car haulers and rates
Three trailers, all 8.5 feet wide with 7 feet of interior height and a rear ramp door. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates are posted, sales tax is shown as its own line at checkout, and there are no hidden fees.

Which trailer fits your car
- Full-size classics and muscle cars (a 1969 Chevelle, a square-body truck, a modern Mustang or Challenger): take the 8.5 x 20 Diamond Cargo. You get room to open a door inside the trailer and walk around the car to strap it down, and the winch pulls a car that will not start.
- Smaller classics and sports cars (an MG, a Miata, a Porsche 911, a Corvette): the 8.5 x 16 Hook & Line was custom built for exactly this. Sixteen feet of flat floor before the V-nose is enough for a car up to roughly 14 feet long with strap room front and back.
- Motorcycles, side-by-sides, golf carts: either 16 footer. Two full-size bikes fit side by side with gear bags.
- Does not run? Book the Diamond Cargo. The 10,000 lb winch and low-profile racing ramps load a dead car on its own tires without a second person pushing.
Loading a car the right way
- Weight forward. Position the car so roughly 60 percent of its weight sits ahead of the trailer axles. On the 20 footer that usually means the front bumper a foot or two behind the front wall. Too far back and the trailer sways on I-75.
- Strap the car, not the trailer. Use the E-track and the four straps that come with the Diamond Cargo, crossed front and rear, on the frame or the wheels. Never on suspension arms or the bumper cover.
- Low cars, low ramps. Ask for the low-profile racing ramps when you book if your car has a front splitter or a lowered stance. They cost nothing extra and save a bumper.
What your truck needs to tow one
An enclosed car hauler with a car inside is a real load. Check three things before you book:
- Tow rating. The Diamond Cargo weighs about 3,600 lb empty, so with a 3,500 lb car inside you are pulling over 7,000 lb, and the trailer is rated to 10,000 lb GVWR. A half-ton pickup with a tow package handles most cars; a three-quarter ton is more comfortable for heavy classics and long interstate runs. The 16 footers weigh about 3,300 to 3,500 lb empty and are easier on a half-ton or a full-size SUV.
- Hitch and ball. Class III or IV receiver and a 2-5/16 inch ball on all three trailers.
- 7-pin plug and a brake controller. Not sure you have one? Text us a photo of your bumper and we will tell you.
Our tow guide covers common trucks and SUVs step by step.
How booking and pickup work
- Book online in about a minute. Pick your trailer and dates. You see the full total, including tax, before you pay. We take payment in full at booking so your dates are locked, which matters the weekend of a show.
- Sign the rental agreement on your phone. A valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required for every rental.
- Pick up in person or contactless, 24 hours a day. Our yard is at 3180 Arapaho Street in south Sarasota, a few minutes off US-41 near Gulf Gate. Choose an in-person handoff during business hours, or contactless pickup any time with a code we text you when your rental starts. Early track day? Grab it at 5 a.m.
- Return when you are done. Bring it back swept out and on time. Need another day? Extend from your phone.
Optional damage protection
At checkout you can add our damage protection plan, which limits what you owe for accidental damage to the trailer during the rental to a set copay instead of the full repair cost. It is optional, priced per day, and shown on its own line so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
Beyond Sarasota
Most of our car-hauler customers come from Sarasota, Siesta Key, Osprey, Nokomis, and Venice, and we regularly rent to Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, and North Port. Renters heading to a show in Tampa, Orlando, or Miami, or bringing a purchase home from out of state, pick up here and go. If you are within about 40 minutes of our yard, we are usually the closest enclosed car hauler rental and the easiest to book.
